To my sweet nephew Peyton,

You, my sweet boy are now coming due.
Your mommy is ready and daddy is too.

You are such a miracle from the very start,
we all pray for the day you give Jesus your heart.

Peyton, we are already so in love.
In this crazy family, you'll fit like a glove.

You've stolen the show like it's the arts,
and by the way, your mother has been blaming YOU when she farts!

Will you inherit this? Only time shows;
but one thing is certain, you've got her Michael Jackson nose.

To me you will always be my adorable little Peyton Bear.
You are living proof that what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there!

Love,
Auntie Lis

A baby shower poem

In honor of Dr. Seus' birthday, I shall make another blog posting.
Here's one I wrote sitting at a baby shower. I was supposed to write something nice to the mother, but since I am not one myself, I didn't feel like I had much to offer besides my twisted sense of humor. I omitted their names just in case they might be embarrassed. :)

(Hubby's Name) and (Wifey's Name) fell in love,
then they were given a gift from above.

They have loved (child #1) the way parents do,
only (hubby) makes (wifey) change her when she smells like poo.
(He'll probably do the same with baby #2.)

So (wifey) this baby you are about to deliver,
and there is no doubt she will be so stinkin' cute,
but while you are pushing, be sure to say "excuse me" if you toot.

A gift to my husband:

Since Trent is constantly telling me I missed my calling in life, this first post is for him. Yesterday, (Valentine's day) I wrote a total of 10 poems and they were delivered all day from the time he woke up, every class period of the day, and one was waiting in his truck after school. I can't share all of them, but here are the ones I am willing to share...Some are funny--some are a little gushy.

1. Good morning to the love of my life,
I sure am glad God chose me to be your wife.
We are slightly broke and money is tight,
but I have thought of a gift I think will be alright.

I thought over and over of something nice to give you;
Just a warning, my gift is not shiny or new.
It is full of scars and at times has been broken,
but it has been healed by a soft touch, a kiss, or a word kindly spoken.

In all of this you have played a part,
so for this Valentine’s day (and everyday), I give you my heart.

2. (given with candy hearts)
To the love of my life on Valentine’s day,
I sure am happy that you are straight, not gay.

You make me laugh and fill me full of giggles,
you don’t even seem to mind that I have fat that jiggles.
You are sexy and oh so fine,
so on this Valentine’s day would you be mine?

3. (given with a candle)
You light up my life, that is for sure,
I hope with you to grow old so we can share some ensure.  (don’t judge me, it rhymes)

We have had good times and bad times like all couples do.
I’m so thankful I get to spend them all with you.

I know this is girly and a little lame,
but I just want you to know that you are my flame.

4. (given with water and a Hershey kiss)
It makes me smile to think of our first date.
Little did I know you would be my life mate.

You have become a man that takes command,
even though that day you were too nervous to hold my hand.

So out by the water and sealed with a kiss
began our years of wonderful bliss.

5. (Given with a flower)
From your secret admirer with love,
(got this idea from a guy that became my gift from above.)

I never imagined you could be so shy,
but I sure am proud to claim you as my guy.

6. (with lunch)
Hey! Remember when we went to the fair and you ate ALL my burger and fries?!
Here’s more food for the guy with a stomach bigger than his eyes.

They say the way to a guy’s heart is through his belly,
but when people see you eat they say “WOH NELLY!”

I love you my sweetie, your appetite too,
I just really hope someday it doesn’t catch up to you!

7. (Given with a cup cake)
UGH! We have been on this diet, and they are SO not funs!
I’m hoping in the end to have skinnier buns!

I’m thankful for all your love and support,
and I am glad you are tall, not short.

I love that your love is constant and true,
So have some cake, and you can eat it too!

8. (Given with p-nut M&M’s- his favorite)
My love for you is like your favorite treat.
You look good from your head down to your feet.

Let’s not forget about that beautiful butt;
you are crazy and such a nut!

I think our love is fine and dandy,
like Fez would say, “Ooooo, I love candy!”
